Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about tax consultancy, KRA audits, and our services.
What tax services do you offer?
We offer comprehensive tax services including tax planning, tax returns filing (Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, WHT), tax audit defense, dispute resolution, payroll administration, transfer pricing documentation, and strategic business planning.
How can you help with a KRA tax audit?
We provide full representation during KRA tax audits, including document preparation, communication with KRA officers, drafting objections and appeals against tax assessments, and negotiating tax debt resolutions. Our team has former KRA officials who understand the audit process from both sides.
What is the penalty for late tax filing in Kenya?
Late filing penalties vary by tax type. For Income Tax, there's a late payment penalty of 5% of the tax due plus interest at 2% per month. For VAT, late filing attracts a penalty of KES 10,000 for the first month and KES 20,000 for subsequent months. We can help you regularize your filings and negotiate penalty waivers in some cases.
How often should I file tax returns?
Income Tax returns are filed annually by June 30th. VAT returns are filed monthly by the 20th of the following month. PAYE returns are filed monthly by the 9th of the following month. WHT returns are filed monthly by the 20th. We ensure all your filings are done accurately and on time.
What is transfer pricing and do I need it?
Transfer pricing refers to rules for pricing transactions between related parties (e.g., parent company and subsidiary). If your business has cross-border related-party transactions exceeding certain thresholds, you need transfer pricing documentation. We help you prepare compliant documentation and avoid penalties.

What is the difference between tax avoidance and tax evasion?
